This is a picture of the front cover of the programme for Round The Horne in Brighton
On the 18th November, 2008, "Round The Horne - Unseen and Uncut" opened at the Theatre Royal, Brighton, for one week only, finishing on the 22nd. Many will remember Round The Horne in its original incarnation as a radio comedy sketch show from the 1960s, starring Kenneth Horne, Hugh Paddick and the much-loved Kenneth Williams.
This particular version is a live stage version, re-creating the atmosphere of the Paris Studios in Lower Regent Street where the original shows were recorded.
During each radio broadcast, each week, there was a musical interlude from a close harmony singing quartet called the Fraser Hayes Four. Nathan appeared as one of the Fraser Hayes Four, providing light-hearted, musical relief in the form of three numbers: Button Up Your Overcoat (You Belong to Me), Paper Moon and Sit Right Down And Write Myself A Letter.
The show was originally written by Barry Took and Marty Feldman, and Barry's wife, Lyn Took, made sure that everything to do with the production was as authentic as possible. The Fraser Hayesers were delighted to learn that their vocal arrangements were kindly given to the show by Tony Hayes himself, original member, and vocal arranger for the group so many years ago.
The show comes from a totally different era of comedy, but still managed to delight today's audiences in Brighton, often eliciting positive gales of laughter from the house.
