Benjamin has recently been commissioned to make two musical films for BBC Regions; a symphony in Yorkshire and a project about a council estate in Rochdale.

 

Awards

Benjamin was nominated for a 2009 Grierson Award as best newcomer for his work on A1: The Road Musical, and Coventry Market: The Musical won a gold AND a silver award at the Gillards.

 

The Book of Hope

Benjamin is currently working with the Grantham-based Choir Invisible, who are Desmond Tutu's British Choir Of Peace. Benjamin has been commissioned to create four songs for the choir, which will be recorded and sold to raise money for the Archbishop's charities. The writing is now complete and the choir have started rehearsing the work.

 

The Pepys Motet

Benjamin has started work on an ambitious 40-part motet based on Samuel Pepys' diary. 2010 is the 350th anniversary of Pepys putting pen to paper. The work is due to be premiered in November. Watford Gap: The Musical


Watford Gap Services

November 2009 saw the premier of Watford Gap: The Musical, Benjamin's latest BBC musical documentary. The film celebrates 50 years of the iconic services.

 

Watford Gap: The Musical is performed entirely by the good people of Northamptonshire (Benjamin's home county) and those with memories or stories about the service station.
