Guesting with Julie Clare

On Thursday the 8th of September, Nathan appeared at The Pheasantry (which seems to be rapidly becoming his second home!) as a guest for long-term friend Julie Clare.

Julie had asked Nathan to help her with putting her cabaret together, and the two worked really hard to polish it up ready for the Cabaret Confidential slot.

Julie's song list included the hilarious Alto's Lament, which was a cracking way to open the set, and brought the house down, The embittered paean to womanhood, Invisible Woman, written years ago by Julie herself and Benjamin Till (Nathan's partner), All for the Best from Godspell, joined for this number by Nathan, a moving and beautiful song by her pianist for the night, Chris Ash, called Time to Move On, from his musical The Borrowers, and a blistering rendition of the Barbra Streisand classic, A Piece of Sky, from the movie Yentl.

The evening also included sets from Vicki Lee Taylor, recently seen in the musical Betwixt, as well as Nathan Kiley, and the sinister and bizarre Bluebird Cabaret.

As always with cabaret Confidential, it was a varied and ecclectic evening, thoroughly enjoyed by the capacity house.

It made Nathan very excited about returning to the Pheasantry on 13th October, for his appearance as one third of Brother Act.
